William L. Kresge

William L. Kresge, 75, of Hazleton, passed away Wednesday at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton. 

Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Robert B. and Emily (Eli) Kresge.

Bill was a graduate of Hazleton Senior High School, class of 1963.

Prior to retiring, he was the proprietor of Robert B. Kresge and Son Plastering Co. of Hazleton.

Bill was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Audenried. As a youth, he served as Acolyte and Crucifer. He was a former President and Vice-President for the church council. He presently served as the Treasurer and Lay Minister. 

Bill joined the Boy Scouts of America in 1953 and earned his Eagle Scout in 1960. He later became Scoutmaster of Troop 15 (Christ Lutheran Church) and Troop 63 (St. John’s Lutheran Church). Bill attended the Philmont Scout Ranch of New Mexico, seven times in his scouting career. 

Preceding him in death was his brother Robert E. Kresge.

Surviving, are his wife of 51 years, Julie Mae (Valuck) Kresge; son John R. Kresge, of Hazleton; sister Carol Cunfer, of Monroeton; and nieces and nephews also survive.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from the Damiano Funeral Home, Inc., McAdoo. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. in Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Audenried. Rev. Robert C. Reier will officiate the service.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home.
