Shirley R. (Bray) Hinkle

Shirley R. Hinkle, 89, formerly of Hazleton, passed away Friday morning at the Pavilion at St. Luke Village, Hazleton. 

Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late James and Adeline (Heller) Bray and of the Protestant faith.

Prior to retiring, she was employed at the former Hazleton General Hospital as a Dietary Aide.

Shirley loved to play Bingo and for over 20 years, she taught ceramics at the Salvation Army.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, and she will be sadly missed by all.

Preceding her in death, were her husband Harry E. Hinkle, Sr.; son Jeffrey Hinkle; daughter Michelle Hinkle; granddaughter Jennie Marie Hinkle; brother Paul Bray; and brother-in-law Larry Veet.

Surviving are her sons, Harry E. Hinkle Jr., and wife Anna Marie, of Hazleton; Francis Hinkle and wife Michelle, of Hazleton; grandchildren Katie Hinkle and companion Matthew Keck; Harry E. Hinkle III and wife Kathryn; Sara Hinkle; and Francesca Hinkle; sister Bunnie Veet; sisters-in-law, Mary Bray and Josephine Hinkle; and nieces and nephews also survive.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday. The Rev. Jane Hess will conduct a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the Damiano Funeral Home, Inc., McAdoo. Interment will be held privately in St. Matthew’s Cemetery, Weatherly.

Calling hours are Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
