Ruth E. (Evans) Rouse

Ruth Evans Rouse, 90, of 30 Snyder Ave., McAdoo, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon at her home surrounded by her loving family.

         Born in Audenried on December 5, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Rosanna (Semmers) Evans.

         Ruth was a 1945 graduate of Hazleton High School.

         In 1947, Ruth married the love of her life, August J. Rouse.  The couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in August 2017. 

         She worked in the local garment industry and was last employed at ICI Americas, the former Atlas Powder Co. of Reynolds.

         Ruth taught swimming lessons and was a volunteer with the Adult Literacy Program.  Over the years, she enjoyed traveling to visit family.  Ruth and her husband also enjoyed going out with friends and attending dances in the Poconos and Wilkes-Barre area where they were members of the Big Band Society.

         Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were, her son August ‘A.J.’ Rouse and grandson August Rouse IV; and siblings Robert Evans, Olive Grebey, Lenna Bryan and Lillian Lazur.

         Surviving, are her husband August Rouse, Jr.; daughters Mildred Rubinate and husband Jerome, Hazleton; Alys Schultz and husband Stephen, Virginia Beach, VA; Mary Lou Cerullo and husband Nicholas, Haddock; and Jane McNamara and husband Dennis, New Milford; daughter-in-law Helen Rouse, McAdoo; grandchildren Melissa Vaughan, Ruth Rich, Sarah Robinson, Nicole Farrell, Erin McNamara, Alison McNamara, and Samantha Hovanec; great-grandchildren Evan and Ella Vaughan, Emerson Robinson, Eian Rich, and Abigail and August Rouse; and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews also survive.

         Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. 

         The Damiano Funeral Home Inc., McAdoo, is assisting the family with arrangements.

         Memorial donations can be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention or a charity of one’s choice.
