Rita A. (Durishin) Kuritz

Rita A. Kuritz, 92, of Hazleton, passed away peacefully Saturday morning at the Manor of St. Luke Village, where she had been a resident. 

Born in Tresckow on July 26, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Genevieve (Thomashefsky) Durishin, Sr.

Rita was a member of Annunciation Parish at St. Gabriel’s Church, Hazleton.

She worked at several dress factories during her life and was employed at Honig Corp. prior to retiring.

Rita was an avid gardener who enjoyed flowers of all kinds. She also enjoyed farmers markets, day shopping trips, Atlantic City bus trips and cooking.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and sister. She had a wonderful sense of humor, whose greatest pride was taking care of her family.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband Thomas Kuritz, Sr., in 1984.

Surviving, are her sons Thomas Kuritz, Jr., and Ronald Kuritz, both of Hazleton; brothers Joseph Durishin of Reisterstown, MD and Raymond Durishin and wife Margaret of Tresckow; along with several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at St. Gabriel’s Church, Hazleton. Interment will follow in Ss. Peter and Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Hazleton.

A calling hour will be held Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service in the church.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Manor at St. Luke Village for their incredible devotion and care of Rita. Their professionalism, compassion and friendship are so much appreciated.
