Regina M. (Reale) Mascarell

Regina M. Mascarell, 90, of Kline Twp., passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side Saturday evening in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton.

Born in Kelayres, she was the daughter of the late Silvio Sr. and Josephine Reale D’Alessandro.

She was a member of Church of All Saints, McAdoo.

Prior to retiring, she was employed in the area garment industry for 38 years.

Regina was a member of Sodality Society of Immaculate Conception Church, Kelayres, and also a longtime ravioli maker for the church. She had a passion for cooking, especially for family and friends, and teaching her cousins the old family recipes.

Having never had children of her own, her true calling was caring for her brother, Junior. Regina was a devoted and loving wife, sister, aunt, cousin and godmother, and will be sadly missed by all.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her brothers, Maurice and Silvio “Junior” D’Alessandro.

Surviving are her loving husband of 68 years, Russell J. Mascarell; brother, Ronald D’Alessandro, Hazleton; niece, Darlene Minneci and husband, Samuel, Hazleton; three cousins whom she thought of as her own, Michele Poluka, Sonja Smith and Lori Stoney; her favorite cousin, Joseph Reale, Kelayres; and nieces, nephews, cousins and several godchildren.

Her funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday from Damiano Funeral Home Inc., Blaine and Cleveland streets, McAdoo. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in Church of All Saints, McAdoo. Monsignor William Baker will be the celebrant.

Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
