Peter S. Notaro, 97, of Hazleton, passed away Sunday evening.
Born in Kelayres, he was the son of the late Salvador and Nancy (Santacruz) Notaro.
Peter was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Most Precious Blood Church, Hazleton, and a CYO Basketball coach for many years.
Prior to retiring, he was employed at Dorr Oliver, Hazleton. Peter was a member of the International Assoc. of Machinists and served as past president and union representative.
Preceding him in death were his sisters, Jennie Zuber, Sally Dougherty, Arlene Rodko, and Nancy Mulik, and brother, Joseph Notaro.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 76 years, Dorothy (Karpatch) Notaro; sons, Peter C. Notaro and wife, Susan of Hazleton; and Richard Notaro and wife, Margaret of Quakertown; granddaughter, Jennifer Notaro and step-granddaughter, Amy Paciej-Woodruff; great-granddaughter, Macie Woodruff; sister, Marie Prete of Hazleton; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Friday, January 24. The Rev. Anthony J. Generose will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Most Precious Blood Church, Hazleton. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.
A calling hour will be held Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the church.
The Damiano Funeral Home, McAdoo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
