Peter M. DiLauro Jr.

Peter M. DiLauro Jr., 84, of West Hazleton, passed away Thursday at Greenwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hometown. 

Born in New York City, he was the son of the late Peter and Helen (Sabala) DiLauro Sr.

Prior to retiring, he was a District Manager/Supervisor for the Newsday Newspaper, Long Island, NY.

From a young age, Peter gained a love for music and played guitar in a band along with his brother. Listening to music was always a part of his day. He truly enjoyed life. He loved movies, fixing and rebuilding cars, and tackling home improvement projects. Peter enjoyed caring for his beloved dogs over the years, especially ‘Lucky’.

When his children were young, Peter was always involved in their sports and activities, and he proudly carried that tradition on to attending his grandson’s sporting events. He had a love for sports, especially baseball and football. He was a true NY Yankees and Giants fan.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Barbara (Heller) DiLauro and his brother Joseph DiLauro.

Surviving are his daughter Regina Petrilyak and husband John ‘Pilsey’, of Tresckow; son Michael DiLauro, of West Hazleton; grandson Chase Petrilyak; sister, Patricia Tafuro and husband Tony, of Long Island, NY; brother, John DiLauro, of Pahrump, NV; nieces and nephews, Anthony, Erica and Nora Tafuro; and Kathleen, John Jr., Donna, Denise and Debbie DiLauro; and other nieces and nephews also survive.

His funeral service will be held Thursday, January 16, at 6 p.m. at the Damiano Funeral Home Inc., Blaine and Cleveland Streets, McAdoo.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations for a park bench for Greenwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hometown, in Peter’s memory can be made to Regina Petrilyak.
