Neil N. "Chiefy" Stefanisko

Neil N. “Chiefy” Stefanisko, 46, of Gordon, passed away suddenly Tuesday morning at his home.

Born in Coaldale, he was the son of Angeline (Melfy) Stefanisko, of Kline Twp. and the late Norman Stefanisko.

Neil was a 1992 graduate of Marian Catholic High School, where he was a football standout and played on the State Championship team. He attended Wilkes University, where he played football and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, class of 1996.

Neil was the Chief Adult Probation Officer for Schuylkill County.

He was a member of St. Charles of Borromeo Church, Ashland.  Neil was a former treasurer for Ashland Little League and current treasurer for North Schuylkill Spartan Halftime Club.  He was an NRA Firearms instructor and held several positions with the former Keystone Vol. Fire Co., McAdoo.  

Neil enjoyed taking trips to the area casinos. He was one the nicest guys you could ever meet, he would do anything for anyone.  He was a devoted and loving son, husband, father, brother and friend to many, and he will be sadly missed by all.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his father, are his sister Karen Stefanisko; and father-in-law George Savakinas.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his loving wife of 17 years, Shannon (Savakinas) Stefanisko; his pride and joy, sons Luke Stefanisko, at home and SA Jacob Shearn, USN; sister Sharon Skotek of Kline Twp.; nephews Matthew and John Skotek; mother-in-law Helen Savakinas of Gordon; and also surviving are several brothers-in law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, godchildren and many beloved friends.

His funeral will be held Monday from the Damiano Funeral Home, Inc., Blaine and Cleveland Streets, McAdoo, at 10:30 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in Church of All Saints, McAdoo. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, McAdoo.

Calling hours will be held Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
