Mary Rose (Stratchko) Harmonosky

Mary Rose Harmonosky, 90, of Tresckow, passed away Saturday afternoon at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.

Born in McAdoo, she was the daughter of the late John and Veronica (Stasek) Stratchko. Mary Rose was honored to grow-up as a coal miner’s daughter in a large family of 11 children.

A devout catholic and a love for the Blessed Mother, she was a faithful member of Church of All Saints, McAdoo. 

Mary Rose was first employed at McAdoo Manufacturing and later in life at the Cigar Plant in McAdoo.

Her most important role was that of a homemaker. She always made sure her family was well taken care of; and loved to prepare homemade meals and make desserts using old-fashioned Slovak recipes.

In her younger years, she enjoyed polka dancing with her friends and the love of her life, her husband, Bernard. Mary Rose appreciated and always found a moment to enjoy the simple things, such as flowers growing in her garden or robins in her backyard. In her later years, she filled her days talking on the phone with her sisters and friends. Above all, nothing meant more to her than spending time, and watching her beloved granddaughters grow up.

Preceding her in death, were her husband, Bernard Harmonosky; brothers, John, Robert, Joseph and Daniel Stratchko; and sisters, Anna Comiskey, Helen Korinchock, Dorothy Stratchko, Delores Petrulsky and infant Theresa Stratchko.

Surviving are her son, John Harmonosky and wife Heather, of Sugarloaf; granddaughters Brooke and Lauren; sister, Veronica Martonick and husband Ronald, of Tresckow; sister-in-law, Annette Harmonosky, of Tresckow; and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held Friday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Church of All Saints, McAdoo. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.

A calling hour will be held Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the church.

The Damiano Funeral Home, McAdoo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
