Martha (Hollodick) Stefanisko

Martha Stefanisko, 76, of Kelayres, passed away Friday evening at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late George and Genevieve (Gatski) Hollodick, Sr., and was of the Roman Catholic faith.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband John ‘Junior’ Stefanisko; and brothers Kenner and George Hollodick, Jr.

Surviving, are her daughters, Carla Carmadella, New Jersey; Colette Markle, Florida; Roberta and Tara Carmadella, Kelayres; grandson Ryan Hunsinger; and nieces and nephews also survive.

Prior to retiring, Martha was employed as a home health aide and caregiver, and treated her patients with compassionate loving care.

If you grew up in the Hazleton area in the 80’s and loved to dance, chances are you would have been to Stefanisko’s, where John and Martha had the best live bands. You may even have had your wedding or baby shower there.

Martha loved and couldn't wait every summer to start her gardening and plant her flowers tucked away in her backyard paradise and every once in a while taking a break on her swing and feeling the warm breeze across her face. 

She loved the sun and would spend long summer days floating endlessly in the pool in her beautiful hidden garden. Rainy weekends would find her at the Blackjack table at Mohegan Sun. Winters were spent cozy on the couch, fireplace blazing, crocheting and listening to country music.

Martha was an animal lover and couldn’t wait to dog sit Belle, Misty Rose and Sophie.

We know John and Autumn (their beloved Golden Retriever) are welcoming her with open arms and paws.

No funeral services are scheduled.
