Karl David Gould, age 61, of Harleysville, passed away at Grand View Hospital surrounded by his loving family after a two-year battle with esophageal cancer on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Nancy (Subolish) Gould, with whom he shared over 28 years of marriage.
Born July 11, 1962, in Endicott, NY, he was a son of Dawne (Harrington) Gould and the late David Gould.
In addition to his wife Nancy, he is survived by his daughters Allison Gould and Melissa (Regina) Goultier; sister Kathy (Art) Kirsch, and brother Andrew (Lori) Gould. He was preceded in death by grandmother Marguerite Harrington, uncle Cramer Harrington, and nephew Evan Gould.
Karl was a graduate of Vestal (NY) High School (1980), State University of New York at Plattsburgh (B.S. Computer Science and Mathematics, 1984), and Villanova University (M.S. Computer Science, 1989).
Karl worked for Lockheed Martin for 38 years, retiring in June 2023 as a Systems Engineering Manager.
He was a proud board member of DSD for over 40 years enjoying their semi-annual meetings at Risley’s Rush Point. He served in multiple capacities for Harleysville Girls Softball Association (HGSA) Board of Directors. He spent many years coaching his daughters on various teams, including travel softball, from 2003 to 2018. He was a kitchen volunteer for many years working hard at the annual St Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church Homecoming Picnic. He was a member of the Souderton-Harleysville Game, Fish, and Forestry Association where he enjoyed his love of fishing and marksmanship. In addition, he was a social member of Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Co.
He enjoyed the camaraderie of his many friends whether it be fishing, boating, skiing, concert going, or bowling. He also enjoyed woodworking in his spare time.
A viewing will be held for Karl on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at the Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home Inc., 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford, PA 18969.
Another viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, 9:30AM – 11:00AM, at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 210 W. Blaine Street, McAdoo, PA 18237. Funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church Cemetery.
