Julianne D. Ackles, 76, of McAdoo, passed away Tuesday at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Hazleton on March 27,1941 she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Fallis) Balascik.
Julianne was a member of Church of All Saints, McAdoo, and a 1958 graduate of McAdoo High School.
On September 19, 1959, she married her first husband, Leo A. Malatesta II, and had four children.
On May 31, 1997, Julianne married her second husband, Robert Ackles.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at McAdoo Manufacturing.
Julianne was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband Robert Ackles and her beloved granddaughter Kayla Jean Bahrey, who often called her just to say, “I love you Nana”, in which she was always told “I love you more.”
Surviving, are her sons Leo Malatesta and wife Linda, Berwick; John Malatesta, McAdoo and New York City; daughter Mary Kay Malatesta Corbett, McAdoo; son Joseph Malatesta, McAdoo; granddaughters Jessica Bahrey, Heather Bahrey Condo, and Shianna Corbett Melici; great-grandchildren Bentley, Ryder, Kailani, and Stella; sisters Mary Canfield, Huntington Woods, MI; and Jean Moroski and husband William, of Troy, MI; brothers John “Brick” Balascik and wife Lisa, Herdon; and Joseph Balascik and wife Patricia, Hometown; and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the Damiano Funeral Home, Inc., Blaine and Cleveland Sts., McAdoo. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Church of All Saints, McAdoo. Interment will follow in Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Throughout her life, Julianne was a devoted owner of her pet dogs, Duke, Taffy, Champ and her current rescue dog Junior. In lieu of flowers, please honor her wishes by making a donation to the Hazleton Animal Shelter in her name.
