Joseph Magda Jr.

Joseph Magda Jr., 85, of Beaver Brook, passed away Sunday morning at his home. 

Born in Ashley, he was the son of the late Joseph and Juliana (Ontko) Magda, Sr. 

Prior to retiring, Joseph was the proprietor of Magda’s Service Station, of Ashley, for over 50 years.

He was a member of Church of All Saints, McAdoo, and also the Sugarbush Lodge, Bradford County.

Joseph was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed spending his time hunting and fishing. In his younger years, he loved to ride and take care of his horses. His favorite pastime in his later years was enjoying the peacefulness of mowing the lawn. 

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was a brother Norman Magda.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Mary Anne (Smith) Magda; daughter, Julie Walko and husband, Joe, of McAdoo; sons, Joseph Magda and wife, Lori, of Kelayres; and James Magda and wife, Cheri, of Cicero, NY; the apple of his eye, his beloved grandchildren, Brianna and Ashley Magda; Christina and Joey Walko; and Jimmy and Lily Magda; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held Wednesday, February 12. The Rev. Barnabas Shayo will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at 11a.m. in Church of All Saints, McAdoo. Interment will be held privately in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Wyoming, PA.

A calling hour will be held Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church.
