John Haber, 84, of Hazleton, passed away Saturday morning at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late John and Margaret (Wabbles) Haber.
John was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Hazleton.
He was a veteran of the Army National Guard of Pennsylvania.
Prior to retiring, he was a union carpenter employed with various companies over the years.
John was a hard-working man with many skills. An accomplished accordion player, he enjoyed polkas. He was a member of the YMPA of Hazleton. He most enjoyed spending time with his beloved family.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his wife Elizabeth (Stratchko) Haber; and brothers Richard and Charles Haber.
Surviving, are his son Dr. John J. Haber and his wife Cathy, of Tresckow; daughters Lisa Haber and her fiancé Mark Gugliemini, of Tresckow; Linda Naugle and her husband Dr. David Naugle, OD, of Hazleton; and Kimberly Haber-Bobish, of Hazleton; son-in-law Glen Bobish; grandchildren Alexander, Andrew, Anna, and Aaron Haber; Vanessa Chulock and her husband Jeremy, and Olivia Giordano and her husband Mariano; Joshua and Zachary Naugle; and Megan, Kayla and Jacob Bobish; Great-granddaughter Aubrey Chulock; sister Jean Watro, of California; and nieces and nephews also survive.
His funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Damiano Funeral Home, Inc., McAdoo. The Divine Liturgy with Office of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s B.C. Church, Hazleton, by Rev. Peter Donish. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.
Calling hours are Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. A Parastas Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
