Jean Ann Matweecha

Jean Ann Matweecha, 63, of McAdoo, passed away Thursday evening at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton. 

Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Marjorie (Wisgo) Matweecha.

Jean Ann was employed for 30 years in the office at Callahan Bearings, McAdoo.

She was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, McAdoo. Her love of music brought her to the church choir, where she was also a former choir conductor. Jean Ann also volunteered her time as a festival committee member. In her youth, she belonged to the St. Mary’s Ukrainian Dance group. 

Jean Ann was a committee member for the McAdoo V.F.W. She was also a social member of the McAdoo Fire. Co.

Jean Ann most enjoyed being with her friends and family, she will be sadly missed by all.

Surviving are her beloved daughter Megan Jean Majetsky of Mahanoy City; her pride and joy, grandson Carter Freil-Majetsky, who lovingly called her Baba Jean; sister Judith M. Palmer and husband Michael of Allentown; godchild and nephew, Michael E. Palmer; life partner Richard Majetsky of Quakake; and aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Damiano Funeral Home, Inc., McAdoo. Rev. Roman Oliynyk will celebrate the Divine Liturgy with Office of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s U.C. Church, McAdoo.

Calling hours are Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A Parastas Service will be held at 7 p.m.
