Helen Cortez, 91, of Hazleton, passed away Wednesday at the Manor at St. Luke Village, Hazleton.
Born in McAdoo, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Podolock) Kurtz.
She was a member of the former Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church, McAdoo. Helen was very active and faithful to her church.
Prior to retiring, she was last employed at Girard Mills, Hazleton.
Helen enjoyed playing Bingo and taking trips with her family.
She was the last survivor of 14 brothers and sisters. Preceding her in death, were her husband Angelo Cortez; and son-in-law Michael LaNunziata.
Surviving are her daughters Dolores LaNunziata, of West Pittston; and Angela Korchnak and husband Martin of Dorrance; granddaughter Lauren LaNunziata; and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Her funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Damiano Funeral Home, Inc., McAdoo. Interment will follow in Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Cemetery, McAdoo.
A calling hour will be held Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
