Gerald E. “Jerry” Ferdoucha, 82, of Hazleton, passed away Saturday at The Pavilion at St. Luke Village, Hazleton, with his loving wife and brother at his side.
Born in Tresckow, he was the son of the late Peter P. and Violet E. (Sube) Ferdoucha.
Jerry graduated from McAdoo High School in 1958, where he excelled in all sports. He was offered a basketball scholarship to Villanova University that he was unable to pursue. He then enlisted in the US Marine Corps.
Jerry was first employed at Delco Battery, New Jersey, for ten years. He then returned to his roots in McAdoo, where he managed the Hazleton Municipal Airport and was an assistant bar manager at “Dukes Corner” in Pittston. Prior to retiring, he was last employed at Graham Packaging, West Hazleton.
Through the Veteran’s Bill, Jerry obtained his private pilot and helicopter license. He loved flying, golfing, shooting, and hunting with his bird dogs in the McAdoo Hollow.
Preceding him in death, was his sister Arlene Bennett.
Surviving are his wife and sole caregiver for 46 years, Trish (Carpenter) Ferdoucha; daughter Cara Verba and husband Rob, New Jersey; brother Robert Ferdoucha and wife Beth, McAdoo; sister Patty Rosinski; nephews, Godson Peter and Jared Ferdoucha; Jesse C. Novotnak, who was like a son to them; and nieces and cousins also survive.
As per Jerry’s wishes, no funeral services will be held.
