Gabriel ‘Gabe’ G. Pellock, 77, of Hazleton, passed away suddenly Sunday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.
Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Madochick) Pellock. Gabe was a graduate of Hazleton High School, class of 1966 and was a member of St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, McAdoo, where he served as the custodian for many years.
On April 1, 1968, Gabe enlisted in the PA Army National Guard. He completed his initial training at Ft. Bliss, TX before returning to Pennsylvania where he served for over 27 years, the majority of which was as a full-time National Guard technician. He retired as a Sergeant First Class.
Certified from IUP, Gabe was a Driving School Instructor for PPL. He was also a life-member of McAdoo Fire Co.
Gabe loved his 2006 Corvette and took great pride in it. He enjoyed cooking for family and friends, especially his homemade meatballs, sausage and peppers, and bean soup, which were favorites at family gatherings. Most of all, he treasured his five grandchildren and loved spending time visiting, laughing, and playing with them.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Susan (Dindoffer) Pellock; daughters, Dr. Susan Elizabeth Polifko, Commander, United States Public Health Service and her husband Dr. Kevin Polifko of Jefferson, MD; and Lauren Marie Metz, M.S. of Education and her husband Justin Metz, Esq. of Hummelstown; grandchildren, Kevin Gabriel, Susannah Marie, and Elijah Beau Polifko; and George Owen and Charlotte Rose Metz; siblings, John Pellock and wife Anna Mae of Hazle Twp., Maryann Lucadamo and husband Gene of Macungie, Thomas Pellock and wife Carol of McAdoo, and Elizabeth May Polumbo and husband Mark of McAdoo; Brother-in-law, Jan Dindoffer and partner Nancy Bevans of Drums; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Friday, June 26, beginning at 9:30 a.m. from the Damiano Funeral Home Inc., McAdoo. Office of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in St. Michael’s B.C. Church, McAdoo, by Rev. Gregory Hosler. Interment will follow in Ss. Peter and Paul Slovak Lutheran Cemetery, Hazleton.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 25, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
