Christine M. 'Tina' Skwierz, 63, of Tresckow, passed away Monday afternoon, after a courageous battle with cancer, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late John and Regina (Muscovitch) Skwierz.
Tina was a Freeland High School graduate, class of 1977, and of the Roman Catholic faith.
Prior to retiring, she was employed at the White Haven Center for many years.
Tina was a member of the Tresckow Hosey Inc., Banks Twp. Zoning Board, and secretary/treasurer of Banks Twp. Municipal Authority.
She enjoyed crocheting and making caps for patients for the Hazleton Cancer Society.
Tina was a loving and devoted wife, mother and sister, and will be sadly missed by all.
Surviving are her husband Charles J. Schalles, together for 36 years; son Jeffrey Skwierz of West Wyoming; brothers John Skwierz and wife Mary of Conyngham, and Joseph Skwierz of Freeland; sister Rosemary Susko and husband Frank of Nesquehoning; nephews Brandon and Jonathan Susko; and her faithful companion ‘Bear’.
Her funeral will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the Damiano Funeral Home, Inc., McAdoo. Rev. Eugene Ritz will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Church of All Saints, McAdoo. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s R.C. Cemetery, McAdoo.
Calling hours are Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
