Carol Ann (Bachart) Hartzel

            Carol Ann Hartzel, 73, of Weatherly, passed away Saturday afternoon at her home.

            Born in Weatherly, she was the daughter of the late Norman Bachart and Elizabeth (Stritz) Bachart Tee.

            She was a member of St. Matthew’s UCC, Weatherly, where she was a volunteer and very active in various church functions.

            Carol was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

            Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were an infant brother Robert T. Bachart; grandson Donald E. Hartzel, III; and great-granddaughter Zelda Kozak.

             Surviving, are her husband of 52 years, Donald E. Hartzel, Sr.; daughters Donna Stahler of Tamaqua; Carolyn Morgans and husband Cyril of Ringtown; son Donald E. Hartzel, Jr. of Tresckow; daughter Debbie Hinkle and husband Randy of Weatherly; grandchildren Tiffany Kozak, Amber and Vanessa Stahler and Cody Morgans; great-granddaughter Chelsea Kozak; brothers Norman Bachart and wife Virginia of Weatherly; and William Bachart and wife Cecelia of Weatherly; and  many nieces and nephews also survive.

            The family extends a special thank you to her caretaker, Jessica Socha.

            Her funeral will be held Friday.  Rev. Sharon Frye will conduct the funeral service at 11 a.m. in St. Mathew’s UCC, Weatherly. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

            A calling hour will be held Friday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the church.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew’s UCC Memorial Fund.
