Carmella M. Marnell, 70, of Hazleton, passed away on Tuesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.
Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Rose (Cassano) Costabile.
Carmella began her career in office administration at the former Chromatex, Inc., and then the Don Wilkinson Agency and PA CareerLink. She was currently employed for the city of Hazleton, Code Enforcement Office.
Carmella was a devoted member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Hazleton, where she was a member of the Christian Women’s Society and a Eucharistic Minister of the parish for many years.
A Hazleton High School graduate, class of 1972, Carmella was very active with her class reunions and staying connected with her classmates over the years. She looked forward to her monthly lunches with friends.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society and also enjoyed arts and crafts.
Her joy in life was her family. She was the most supportive sister and aunt, always present for all family celebrations, attending sporting events for her nieces and nephews, and all their activities. She enjoyed and loved her family dearly.
Carmella was the most caring, loving, and wonderful wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and a friend to many, she will be sadly missed by all.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Daniel Marnell; brother, Louis Costabile; and sister, Elaine Postupack.
Surviving are her sister, Rosemary Cassano and husband Carl, of Doylestown; brothers, Anthony and Frank Costabile, both of Hazleton; sister, Joann Drumheller and husband James, of Hazle Twp; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Saturday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Hazleton. Interment will follow in St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Hazleton.
Calling hours will be held Saturday from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in the church.
