Bernard J. Harmonosky, 85, of Tresckow, passed away Friday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.
Born in Tresckow, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Brutosky) Harmonosky.
Bernie was a member of Church of All Saints, McAdoo, and formerly of St. Michael’s R.C. Church, Tresckow, where he served as a member of the Holy Name Society.
He was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Army as a Corporal with the 62ndTank Battalion.
Prior to retiring, he was employed as a Maintenance Mechanic at Consolidated Cigar Corp., McAdoo.
Bernie was a life member and past Board of Director for the Tresckow Fire Co. An accomplished skilled carpenter, Bernie loved woodworking. He enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables, and picking mushrooms and blueberries in the woods. He was also an avid Penn State football and college basketball fan.
Bernie always put his family first. He loved preparing Easter and Christmas breakfast for his family to enjoy. He cherished the time sitting on the front steps talking with his brother and neighborhood friends. Bernie was most proud of his beloved granddaughters, who lovingly called him “Zeddo” and always brought a smile to his face.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was an infant brother John Harmonosky.
Surviving, are his wife of 59 years, Mary Rose (Stratchko) Harmonosky; son John Harmonosky and wife Heather of Sugarloaf; granddaughters Brooke and Lauren; brother Francis Harmonosky and wife Annette of Tresckow; and nieces and nephews also survive.
His funeral will be held Wednesday. Rev. Msgr. William Baker will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Church of All Saints, McAdoo. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.
A calling hour will be held Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church.
