Bernadine Elko, 92, formerly of McAdoo, passed away Saturday morning at St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Coaldale.
Born in McAdoo, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Suhena) Yursha.
She was a member of St. Mary’s U.C. Church, McAdoo, and also enjoyed attending services at the Franciscan Monastery, Sugarloaf.
Prior to retiring, Bernie was employed in the area garment industry, and later for the Hazleton Area School District.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband William Elko; sister Dorothy Yursha; brothers Vladimir, Eugene and Allan Yursha and sister-in-law Mary Ann (Herceg) Yursha; and nephew William Yursha and niece Kathy (Yursha) Macey.
Surviving, are her sister-in-law Betty Jane Yursha of McAdoo; nieces and nephews Mark, Kenneth, Robert, Stephen, James, Michael, and Marie Yursha, Donna Price, Mary Johnston, Ann Lehr and Julie Bukowski; and several great nieces and great nephews survive.
Her funeral will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the Damiano Funeral Home, Inc., McAdoo. The Divine Liturgy with Office of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s U.C. Church, McAdoo, by the Rev. D. George Worshack. Burial will be held in St. Mary’s U.C. Cemetery, McAdoo, at the convenience of the family.
Friends and family may call Friday from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
