Allen A. Barnum, 82, of Hazleton, and formerly of Moriah, NY, passed away Tuesday morning at Mt. City Nursing Center, Hazle Twp.
Born in Great Barrington, Mass., he was the son of the late Crafton Barnum and Mary (Gemetro) Barnum-Tedford, and was of the Protestant faith.
Allen was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the ‘Cold War’.
Prior to retiring, he was first employed as Maintenance/Custodian for Hazleton National Bank and later for CAN DO, Inc., of Hazleton.
Allen was a member of VFW Post 8225 of Beaver Meadows and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed golfing and fishing, and was an avid fan of Notre Dame, NY Giants and the Yankees.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, are an infant daughter Mary; and sisters Ida Poirer and Nancy Barnum.
Surviving, are his wife of 60 years, Florence (Fazio) Barnum; daughter Paula Mizenko and husband Michael of Tresckow; grandchildren Anthony James Alfieri of Bethlehem and Adriana Alfieri of Tresckow; step-grandchildren Bethany Smolinsky, Michael Devin Mizenko and Chelsea Mizenko; sister Fay Tedford and brother James Tedford, both of Moriah, NY; and nieces and nephews also survive.
His funeral will be held Friday. The Rev. Jane Hess will conduct the service at the Damiano Funeral Home, Inc., McAdoo, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Mt. Laurel Memorial Park, Hazle Twp.
