Alexander R. Martin

Alexander R. Martin, 30, of Kelayres, and formerly of Drums, passed away Friday at home surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Hazleton, he is the son of Robert and Kimberly (Lombardi) Martin, of Drums.

Alex was a Hazleton Area Career Center graduate, class of 2009, where he excelled in the welding program.

He was a member of Good Shepherd R.C. Church, Drums. 

Since the age of 5, Alex had been employed with his family’s business. He was last employed at Balas Distribution of Freeland. 

Alex was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and boating. He was a classic car enthusiast, with a passion for the Monte Carlo. He especially loved to put on firework displays for everyone to enjoy. 

Alex was always there to help his neighbors; he took pride in caring for their lawns. He loved gardening and sharing it with family and friends. He was a true family man and loved spending his time with his fiancé and stepchildren. He will be sadly missed by many.

Preceding him death were his paternal grandparents Robert and Lucille Martin; and Aunt Lisa Lombardi.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his fiancé Tifanee Balliet, of Kelayres; stepchildren Evan Balliet and Brooke Vanvalkenburg; brother Robert J. Martin, of Drums; sister Desiree Martin of Wapwallopen; maternal grandparents Joseph and Mary Jane Lombardi, of Drums; aunts, uncles and cousins; and beloved pets Ziggy, Mr. Floppers, and the doves.

His funeral will be held Wednesday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Good Shepherd R.C. Church, Drums, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.

Calling hours are Wednesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the church.
