Raymond J. Skiptunis, 75, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2018 in Palm Bay, Florida.
Born in McAdoo, he was the son of the late John and Helen (Andrejko) Skiptunis. He grew up in McAdoo, attending grade school at St. Patrick’s and playing Little League. He attended St. Patrick’s R.C. Church and was also an altar boy at St. Michael’s B.C. Church, both of McAdoo. Raymond graduated from McAdoo High School in 1960 where he excelled at football and basketball.
Raymond left McAdoo at 17 to enlist in the U.S. Army. He served in the Army (later Reserve) for 7 years, achieving the rank of Sargent, and was stationed in Karlsruhe, Germany for several years.
Raymond later settled in central New Jersey and graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
Raymond had a long and successful career in business beginning as Associate Professor at Middlesex County College and Instructor at Rutgers University in the areas of accounting, tax, and financial management and later with his own accounting practice in Franklin, NJ. He served in senior leadership positions including Vice Chairman, CEO and CFO for multiple companies including: Biosearch Medical Products, Venray Management Corp., Team Staff, Inc., TAG Entertainment, and Power Efficiency Corp.
He retired to Henderson, Nevada and later to Melbourne, Florida. In addition to his passion for business, Raymond was a sports enthusiast, especially football. He was an avid golfer and longtime member of Copper Hill Country Club in Ringoes, NJ.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were brothers Kenneth and John Skiptunis Jr.
Surviving are his children, Raymond Skiptunis and fiancee’ Liz of Cocoa Beach, FL; Lisa Budischak and husband John of Greenville, DE; Craig Skiptunis and wife Stephanie of Cold Spring, NY; and Jon Skiptunis and wife Sandra of Oakhurst, NJ. He was a proud grandfather to Jacqueline, Dominique, August, Rowan, Rose, and Mila Skiptunis. He is also survived by his brother Robert Skiptunis, sister Mary Anne Casas, several nephews and a niece.
His funeral will be held Saturday, March 9, from the Damiano Funeral Home, Blaine and Cleveland Sts., McAdoo. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Church of All Saints, McAdoo at 10 am. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, McAdoo.
A calling hour will be held Saturday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
