Peter J. Kurtz, 62, of Hazle Twp., passed away Thursday evening at his residence.
Born in Hazleton, he is the son of Regina (Stankiewitch) Kurtz, of Pardeesville, and the late Peter Kurtz.
Peter was of the Russian Orthodox faith.
He was Hazleton High School graduate, class of 1974.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Peter was a jet engine mechanic for the Air Force and obtained rank of Sergeant.
Peter was last employed at Bimbo Bakery, West Hazleton. Prior, he was employed for many years at Inland Container, Hazleton.
Peter was a former member of the Hazleton Art League. He was an accomplished stained glass artist and woodworker.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his siblings, Donna Sipida and husband Bob, New Jersey; Mary Gabriel and husband Daniel, Hazleton; Eileen Cook and husband Daniel, Sugarloaf; Andrew Kurtz, Weatherly; Michael Kurtz, Maryland; Daniel Kurtz, Hazle Twp. and fiancée Jeanie Murphy; Paula Veruhis, Maryland; Roman Kurtz, Beaver Meadows; Barbara Mettler and husband Shawn, Neola; Russian Kurtz, Hazle Twp.; John Kurtz and wife Claudine, Sugarloaf; and many nieces, nephews and aunts survive.
Friends and family may call Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Damiano Funeral Home, Inc., Blaine and Cleveland Streets, McAdoo. Rev. Theodore Petrides will conduct the funeral service Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
